Roman Polanski, shaped by a childhood under Nazi occupation, managed to transcend his experiences to become one of the most influential filmmakers, blending music and emotions in his works.

Born in 1933 in Paris to Polish parents, Polanski’s childhood was marked by World War II and Nazi occupation. His family faced persecution, and this harrowing experience would later influence his approach to human suffering and horror, as depicted in The Pianist, inspired by the life of composer Władysław Szpilman.
